Province of Zuid-Holland - Kunstdelta Drechtsteden - 2001
COMMISSION
In 2001-2002, Jurriaan van Kranendonk of Gallery van Kranendonk, The Hague, NL started a project commissioned by the province of Zuid Holland, concerning the so-called 'Drechtsteden', among them the cities of Dordrecht, Sliedracht, Zwijndrecht a.o.
The 'Drechtsteden' (approximately 8 towns and villages connected by the Lek and Maas rivers are located in an area known for its 17th century fisheries, shipyards, etc.). Over the centuries, this area had lost its puropose and turned its back towards the waters. The province of Zuid Holland decided artist could help do the trick and bring the 'Drechtsteden' together once again.
Together with artists Jouke Kleerenbezem, Jeroen Doorenweerd, I contributed to this project with a new series of photoworks.
Over the period of several weeks I photographed in Dordrecht, Zwijndrecht, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Heerjansdam, Sliedrecht, Papendrecht and Alblasserdam. Results were exhibited in the CBK Dordrecht and featured in numerous exhibitions across the world. Four of them have found their place in collections alike.
