Nederlands Fotomuseum - Las Palmas, Rotterdam - 2007
COMMISSION
In the first half of the 2000’s the Wertheimer Fund was directed to the Dutch Photo Institute to create a national museum of photography in the Netherlands. Rotterdam was chosen as its location.
Moving from the center of the city to the ‘Kop van Zuid’ (Head of South) to the monumental building of Las Palmas, a former warehouse in the harbor area of the city, the Dutch Photo Institute merged with the National Photography Archive and the Photography Restauration Atelier to become the Nederlands Fotomuseum in 2007, after renovating by Dutch architects Benthem & Crouwel.
On the occasion of this birth, Jannes Linders, Adrienne van Eekelen and Frank van der Salm were commissioned to photograph during renovation. My photowork Exposure, 2007 was chosen as the coverimage for the accompanying book.
The book Las Palmas, Cultuurpakhuis op de Kop van Zuid, is available through regular channels.
