Herzog & de Meuron - Forum - Barcelona, Spain - 2004-2005
COMMISSION
Museu Blau, fml. the Forum Building
In 2004 Swiss Architects Herzog & De Meuron (Basle, CH) presented a large retrospective exhibition at the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi) in Rotterdam (NL).
Around that time, Herzog & De Meuron’s Forum building in Barcelona, Spain was in its final stages of construction. The NAi and the architects commissioned me for a series of new photoworks of this spectacular, triangular dark blue building at the end of the Avenida Diagonal, like the anchor point of the omnipresent axis in the northern part of the City near the sea.
Working with Herzog & De Meuron Architects has been a true pleasure and co-exhibiting together at the Netherlands Architecture Institute resulted in a well received and much acclaimed project.
The artworks of the Forum Project that I created for Herzog & de Meuron found their way into collections around the world.
Herzog & De Meuron Architects work with artists and photographers in co-designing, reflecting and documenting in a win/win situation, among them Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, Armin Linke and Remy Zaugg.
